Teeth Whitening - With Or Without a Cosmetic Dentist

By whitening your teeth you can brighten up your entire face quickly and relatively inexpensively. Cosmetic dentistry has recognized that this is the most popular treatment needed by people and so there is a wide market for you to choose from. You can either whiten your teeth with a cosmetic dentist, or you can do it yourself at home.

Here are some of your options…

Cosmetic Dentist Needed - Britesmile Teeth Whitening

A see through bleaching gel is applied to teeth by your cosmetic dentist and a special UK light is used to activate the product and to increase the lightening effect on your teeth. Don’t feel nervous about this as it is a well tested form of cosmetic dentistry! The treatment can take up to two hours depending on the recommendation of your cosmetic dentist.

It can be expensive – up to $600, but the impact can be huge. The only downside could be that you may get busted by your friends as your teeth will be seriously whiter!

Cosmetic Dentist Needed at Beginning - Fit Tray Bleaching

The cosmetic dentist fits a mould from your teeth and sends it away to make a plastic teeth shield. At home you add gel to the teeth shield and wear it around the house (or outside if you prefer!) for a few hours a day. I noticed results immediately but for others a few weeks have to pass. Regardless, you will get white teeth as a result of this treatment. Ask your cosmetic dentist how long it should take.

Do consider that you may notice more sensitivity to cold and hot temperatures while you are using this technique. Ask your cosmetic dentist for advise if it is too painful and they may be able to weaken the solution. This treatment can cost as little as $200 so it is one of the cheapest forms of cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic Dentist Not Needed – Home Strips

I have tried a range of home whitening strips to boost the work that my cosmetic dentist did. Many of the products don’t seem to work unfortunately as they are not strong enough and the whole process can be very messy.

You feel like you are saving money by not going to a cosmetic dentist where as actually you are likely to be throwing money down the drain and perhaps even damaging your teeth.

However, I have found one exception to this, and that is with a Procter and Gamble product named “Whitestrips”. These do give cosmetic dentistry a run for its money.

Let me know what you think and what teeth whitening products work for you!
